Arts in Galway

The city boasts 4 theatres and is also home of the world famous Macnas Street Theatre. Macnas is a community based arts and theatre company. Founded in 1986 in Galway, Macnas first came to national attention when a large (20 meter tall) statue of Gulliver was found washed up on a beach in Dublin City.

The Druid Theatre Company has become well known across the Country of Ireland for putting on plays which fire up the hearts and mind of a Country knee deep in past literature talents. Over the last 27 years the success of the Druid Theatre company has seen it perform all over Ireland and entertain thousands and thousands of people.

Of course Galway plays host to Ireland’s most successful Arts Festival each July with thousands of people from all over the world coming to witness the spectacle and partake.
